Terms of Use

Effective date: 2026-10-23

Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and [PUBLISHER LEGAL NAME] ("we", "us") for your use of the SpareBudget app. You accept these Terms when you tick the agreement box in SpareBudget. Our Privacy Policy explains how SpareBudget handles your data. If you do not agree, do not use SpareBudget.

Who can use SpareBudget

You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a binding agreement. SpareBudget is intended for personal use in the United States.

Your license to use SpareBudget

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use SpareBudget on devices you own or control, as allowed by these Terms and the rules of the app store you got it from.

You may not copy, modify, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it or an open-source license for a component says otherwise.

Acceptable use

Use SpareBudget only for lawful purposes and only for your own finances or finances you are authorized to manage. Do not try to break its security, interfere with its operation, or use it to harm others. You may not use SpareBudget where US export laws forbid it.

Not financial advice

SpareBudget is a budgeting tool, not a financial, investment, tax or legal advisor, and it does not give investment advice. SpareBudget is not a bank or lender, does not hold or move money, and is not affiliated with your bank. Its numbers, forecasts and Coach answers are estimates based on what you enter and can be wrong. Check important money decisions with a qualified professional.

You are responsible for your own financial decisions. SpareBudget does not move money, pay bills or contact your bank.

Your data and backups

Your data is stored only on your device and we do not keep a copy. If you lose or replace your phone, delete the app, or forget your backup passphrase, your data may be lost for good. Making and keeping encrypted backups is your responsibility.

You own the information you enter. These Terms do not give us any rights to it.

Estimates and no warranty

SPAREBUDGET'S NUMBERS DEPEND ON THE INFORMATION YOU ENTER OR IMPORT, WHICH MAY BE INCOMPLETE OR WRONG. FORECASTS, SAFE-TO-SPEND AMOUNTS, BUDGETS AND COACH ANSWERS ARE ESTIMATES, NOT GUARANTEES.

SPAREBUDGET IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST MONEY, SAVINGS, PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF SPAREBUDGET, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT SPAREBUDGET IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR SPAREBUDGET IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US$50. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Price, payments and refunds

SpareBudget is currently free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

If we add paid features later, they will be sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Their payment, cancellation and refund rules will apply, and we will update these Terms before any paid feature is offered.

Apple and Google

These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are solely responsible for SpareBudget and its content.

Your license to use SpareBudget is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (or, on Android, the Google Play Terms of Service), except that SpareBudget may be accessed by other accounts in your Family Sharing group or volume purchasing as those rules allow.

We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for SpareBudget, as described in these Terms or required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for SpareBudget.

We are responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If SpareBudget fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for SpareBudget, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent not disclaimed.

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to SpareBudget or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that SpareBudget fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.

If a third party claims that SpareBudget or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo, or that has been designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using SpareBudget, such as your wireless data service agreement.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Future bank connections

SpareBudget cannot connect to banks today. If we add bank connections through Plaid, you will only use them if you choose to, after agreeing to the extra terms shown at that time, and Plaid's own terms and End User Privacy Policy will also apply.

Our intellectual property

SpareBudget, including its design, code, name and icon, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. Open-source components are licensed under their own licenses, listed in the app.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

Ending these Terms

You can stop using SpareBudget at any time by deleting the app. We may stop offering or updating SpareBudget at any time. If you break these Terms, your license ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including the disclaimers, limitation of liability, intellectual property and governing law.

Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and ask you to accept the new version in the app before you continue using it.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [GOVERNING STATE] and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about SpareBudget.
